At only five minutes from downtown Ottawa and Gatineau (Hull), we offer a studio of 15' x 20', a darkroom that allows printing up to 20" x 24" as well as high-speed Internet access.
The Studio
The studio offers the following:
- A 9' wide door that opens from the ground to allow easy access for decoration and accessories for multiple shooting options;
- Three Bowens Travelite 750 flashes on ceiling rails;
- Many accessories such as: umbrellas, soft box, and honeycomb, snoot and electronic light meter;
- 107" black and white background sheets;
- Two mounted tungsten 1000 watts lamps;
- Some basic items such as chairs, ladder, stool, etc.
A mat cutter and a dry-mount press are also available on the premises.
The Darkroom
Our darkroom allows film development and enlargement up to 20" x 24" from negative as small as 4" x 5".
- An Omega D5 colour head and three Schindler lenses;
- A Durst M605 Enlarger with Nikon lens;
- A 16" x 70" sink with a water temperture controller and ventilation system;
- Development trays from 35 mm to 4" x 5" film sheet;
- An archival washer and a dryer for fiber paper and films.
Prices
- $95 per day
- $180 for a weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- $400 for a week (Monday to Friday)
Unlike most public artist centers, we do not charge a membership fee nor do you have to offer volunteer hours.

Film cameras can also be rented:
- Nikon AG 35 mm with 50 mm 1.8 lens ($50)
- Yashica 120 mm ($50)
- Hasselblad 500CM with 80 mm 2.8 lens and two A12 backs ($100 *)
- Zone VI with 180 mm Rodenstock 5.6 lens ($100 *)
- Sony Mini DV video camera ($50)
* Equipment only available under the supervision of a studio technician.
These prices include the item for the duration of the studio rental (consecutive days only). These items are only to be used at Studio Huit Dalpé. Other restrictions may apply.
