Introduction to In-Studio Photography
Using studio equipment, we will look at handling techniques of lighting and colour with the objective of creating professional pictures.
This is our most popular class. The proposed format is as follows: we will start with 2 hours of studio training. Upon completion of the first hour of training, you are free to invite an amateur or professional model so you can practice your newly acquired skills. The trainer will accompany you until the end of the 2-hour training and will guide you on the spot giving you the best techniques and professional tips. After the training session has completed, you will continue to have access to the studio until the end of your rental time slot (5 PM for the daytime slot, or 10 PM for the evening time slot). This will give you the occasion to create your first studio portfolio. If a problem arises, the trainer can always be reached by phone to get help.
Cost: $180, including studio rental for one time slot (day or evening) ($60 for each additional class participant).
Silverprint Photography
- Introduction to traditional photography
This course is designed to introduce the basic functions of a traditional cameras. We will be learning about depth of pictures, the speed of obturation as well as different types of camera and film available.This class is given in 2 sessions of 2 hours, for a total of 4 hours, for $180 ($80 for each additional class participant).
- Introduction to darkroom
This course will focus on film development as well as black and white printing. We will also be learning about preparation of chemical products required and general maintenance of a darkroom.This class usually begins at 9 AM and includes all the necessary material and equipment. It provides 3 hours of training for $190 after which you can continue working by yourself in the darkroom until 5 PM so that you can put to practice what you have learned. ($90 for each additional class participant).
- Non-silver processing
This is an advanced course that offers an in-depth look at non-digital photography as well as alternative methods in photography. We will also be looking at topics such as digital printing, Van Dyke, Cyanotype and Polaroid.Price is available upon request, depending on your specific needs.
Digital Photography
- Introduction to digital photography
This course is geared towards the new digital camera users. We will look at the differences between 35 mm and digital cameras as well as basic usage and purchasing tips will be offered (digital cameras, printers, various accessories). Various types of software and handling the printing of your own will be covered.This class is given in 2 sessions of 2 hours, for a total of 4 hours, for $180 ($80 for each additional class participant).
- Digital (updating your digital knowledge)
This course is for the student that has already taken an introductory course to photography. We will explore various techniques in digital photography, and will cover updates and new products in the digital world.This class is 2 hours, for $90.
